Giovanna Polacco

A student of Paolo Borciani, she graduated with the highest marks from the G. Verdi Conservatory of Milan, further improving her performing talents with L. Kogan.

For four years she was a member of the European Community Youth Orchestra (E.C.Y.O.), with which she performed under the guidance of C. Abbado and H. von Karajan.

Winner of prestigious scholarships for chamber music and orchestra specialisation courses in Europe as well as the U.S.A., she has earned numerous awards and prizes in competitions such as the Forte dei Marmi International Competition for Instrumental Duo, the "M. Abbado" International Competition for young violinists and the "V. Gui" International Competition for chamber ensembles of Florence.

Since then she has been performing in Italy and abroad for important concert institutions such as the Società del Quartetto of Milan, the Roman Philharmonic Academy, the Orchestra dei Pomeriggi Musicali of Milan and the Cremona Festival, receiving the accolades of public and critics alike.

She teaches violin at the Conservatory of Milan.
